Updated Potting News

15:37, 19 Aug 2008

I managed to damage the stalk during moving so it snapped off. However the plant is still growing strong and the second leaf is well on its way to catching up with the first new leaf.

Still regrowing orchid

I managed to leave half of the root structure behind during the previous re-potting but the basil seems to have overcome the trauma, and some pruning and its growing stronger and bigger.

The resurgent basil

So while i don't expect that it'll work every time, i can successfully repot a plant in practice :) I'm hoping that eventually the orchid will flower again.

So after putting it off for a month, i went out and got a new pot for my orchid. It had got to the point where it was trying to crawl out of its pot.

It didn't need it but i decided to repot my basil plant at the same time. It wasn't the cleanest operation but rest assured it was all squeaky clean afterwards.

I'm a little worried about the basil plant because there was some root damage when i repotted it, but i'll keep you updated....
The repotted basil...

The orchid is looking a lot less healthy, because its flowers have fallen off.

Okay the orchid looks bad....

But i think (and hope since it had very beautiful flowers) that its still alive and kicking. Its still growing in all directions, since i've had it a huge green leaf has grown, as well as the stalk, not to mention the huge root growth.

New leaf is shooting

I noticed yesterday that a second new leaf seems to be growing above the first new leaf...

So its possible i may have killed two of my plants, or i may have saved them, i'll keep you updated as they progress.
